Alert killer jellyfish in southern Thailand (Phuket, Krabi and Koh Lanta)

The center of the Phuket Marine Biological issued the alert last week regarding the presence of many highly poisonous jellyfish in the south of Thailand, off Phuket and Krabi. This is a species that usually lives in Australian waters: the box jellyfish (box jellyfish). It's kind of the most dangerous jellyfish in the world. The latter is more death in Australia that the attacks of snakes, sharks and crocodiles combined. Its venom acts on the cardiorespiratory functions in minutes.
In 2002 two tourists, one Swiss and one Australian were killed 10 minutes after being in contact with the terrible tentacles of a jellyfish. The jellyfish killer had also left two people dead this time in the Gulf of Thailand between the island of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
In April 2008 a young Swedish tourist died from the bite while she was bathing on a beach on the island of Koh Lanta. In recent days several dozen boxes of specimens of jellyfish were caught by fishermen in the bay of Phang-Nga, Krabi and around several others were discovered in the Nam Bor mangrove Bay in Phuket.
According to local fishermen jellyfish usually appear after heavy rains. The box jellyfish would be many more victims each year, but the problem is that public health departments do not keep records of these accidents.
Their tentacles extend up to one meter and form thin filaments that are transparent and difficult to see. The population of jellyfish have greatly increased in recent years because most of its predators such as turtles and some fish are becoming increasingly rare.
