Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife Pojaman, took advantage of the pretext of opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics to leave the country and not presenting Monday Judges of the Supreme Court in Bangkok as planned.
After the indictments of u couple for different cases, the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Tuesday he went into exile permanently to his homeland to seek refuge in London, away from political strife that rocked his country since his overthrow by a military coup. Children Shinawatra had visited a few days earlier in Britain so that parents will join them later.
Thaksin sent this message to Thai television: "I still apologize for having decided to go live England. If I'm lucky enough, I will return and die on Thai soil like other Thais. " Then he added: "What happened to my family, my relatives and myself is the result of efforts to make me give up politics."
In response, the Supreme Court has issued an international arrest warrant against the couple Thaksin of corruption, tax evasion and abuse of power.
Thaksin Shinawatra is a telecommunications tycoon who was Prime Minister from 2001 to 2006 until it is done over by a military coup in September 2006. Pojaman, wife Thaksin was recently sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion and corruption. According
